Today’s Video:

“Hey guys, I’m going to talk to you about the two types of foundations you’re going to find here in Texas. The first one we’re going to be talking about is the slab foundation. If you look at the footer poured around the house, there are no vents. A slab foundation is just one solid piece of concrete. The advantage to this is it’s going to be a lot more stable, it’s going to be a lot more level throughout the house. Now one of the biggest cons to it is if you have a plumbing issue, it gets very expensive to go through or under the slab to fix those issues.

A pier and beam house is going to have a hollow sound to it and typically you’re going to find a crawl space in one of the closets. Now a pier and beam has a concrete footer and wooden beams that run across held up by piers. Here you can see the concrete footer that runs along the house and the air vents to keep the inside dry.

My personal preference is slab just because everything is more level, you’re not going to get those cracks in your house like you may a pier and beam.”
