southlake & keller
In my mind, these 2 suburbs are more or less the same. They are all located very close together north of Arlington between Dallas and Fort Worth.
Each of these suburbs is extremely family-friendly and super well-kept. All the grass is perfectly manicured. Sometimes it almost feels like you’re driving through The Truman Show.
The average price point for a house in Southlake is $1.2 million. Interestingly, Keller, which borders Southlake, has an average price point of $600,000. If you’re looking to move into this area, Keller is a great option, especially if you don’t want to break the bank.
flowermound
Across the lake from Southlake is an area called Flowermound.
The area is fantastic if you enjoy going outside. There are two lakes really close by so if you enjoy going out on the water every now and then, this is a great place to be. There are also a lot of parks in Flowermound, perfect for daily walks or the occasional picnic.
Another interesting benefit that our agent Jack pointed out from his time living in Flowermound. The roads are really wide and really well taken care of. This is really the cherry on top if you find yourself in the area.
There are many benefits to living in this area, including a lower price point. The average price of a home in Flowermound is around $575,000.
colleyville
Colleyville is an interesting area.
First off, it is right next to the DFW airport which can be great, especially if you travel a lot. Second, Colleyville is much more rural than those other two suburbs. There are a bunch of multi-acre lots available, which is really unique for an area right in the middle of a major metroplex.
The average price point in Colleyville is around $900,000. This number is certainly boosted by the multi-acre lots which will generally be much more expensive than a regular suburb lot.
haslet
North of Fort Worth is an up-and-coming area called Haslet. This area has some great schools and a great market for jobs.
Most of the growth in the Fort Worth area is north of the city, so Haslet is primed and ready to be one of the next big suburbs of Fort Worth.
Haslet is also just far enough outside of the city to avoid all the hustle and bustle (aka traffic) that can come with being closer to the city. If you’re looking for a quieter area on the verge of becoming the next big suburb, Haslet is a great place to be. That being said, if you want to go into the city for a night out, it’s only 20 minutes away.
Most of the homes in this area are new, so the average price of a home here is around $600,000.
Argyle
Even further north of Fort Worth is an area called Argyle. If you’re looking for a quiet small-town atmosphere, Argyle is exactly what you’re looking for.
There is not much to do in Argyle, but it is a great quiet place to raise a family. They have fantastic schools and it’s also easy to travel in and out of with easy access to major highways.
aledo
If you want something truly rural, there is an area west of Fort Worth called Aledo. Their downtown is something like 10 buildings, but they are about 20-30 minutes away from some shopping centers on Hulen and Bryant Irving.
Another great pro is the taxes are much lower in Aledo compared to the city.
The average price of houses here is around $560,000. This kind of caught me off guard because I thought it would be much higher since most properties come with land out there.
midlothian
South of Fort Worth and Dallas is an area called Midlothian.
This is another small town area but there have been a lot of new homes going up down there. People like this area because it is really easy to get to downtown Fort Worth, downtown Dallas, and the DFW Airport.
The average price point out here is around $450,000. Being a good distance away from the major city centers brings the prices down some, but as mentioned earlier, access to those cities is easy.

These are 8 neighborhoods that you should consider moving to. A lot of these are hidden gems, because if you’re moving from out of state or even across Texas, you may not have ever heard of any of these.
